A Haitian delegation led by Jean Rodolphe Joazile, the Minister of Defense, participate from 8 to 10 October 2012, in Punta del Este [Uruguay] at the 10th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CDMA).

Created in 1995 to provide a forum of debate to exchangeexperiences among the Defense Ministers of the Hemisphere. The Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas is a multilateral political meeting at international level, formed and directed by the Defense Ministers of the American continent and whose mission is to safeguard the sovereignty and ensure national defense.

The civil approach of the defense, is currently one of the priorities of the Haitian Ministry, taking into account the country's vulnerability to major natural hazards or caused [environmental]. The themes for the 10th Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas join this Haitian concern of Civil Defense, which will allow the Haitian delegation to participate actively and constructively in various debates.

In addition, the Haitian delegation except to take advantage of the conference to strengthen cooperation in term of defense between Haiti and other countries of the continent. And, as rightly pointed out the President Martelly, at the last General Assembly of the United Nations, the Minister Joazile, intends to recall that only "intends to recall that only "the living together and mutual understanding between States" can guarantee the security and defense of the hemisphere.
