The Permanent Commission Industry and Commerce, of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic this week received a delegation of deputies from Haiti to discuss of bilateral relations between the two countries and share experiences between the parliaments of each nation.

Albert Atallah, President of the Dominican Commission, stressed the importance of maintaining and strengthening Dominico-Haitian relations in all aspects "The most important thing, is that the results of this meeting, are converted into a tangible reality, as for Dominicans that for Haitians, particularly on key issues such as bilateral trade," recalling that Haiti was the second largest trading partner of the Dominican Republic and that therefore it was essential to maintain excellent relations. He also stressed the important questions, in the relations between the two countries, concrning the education and the issue of migration policies.

The Deputy Wilner Guervil, who led the Haitian delegation declared that it was very important to maintain the harmony and stability of relations between the two peoples "We are here on behalf of the Haitian Parliament, to share experiences with our Dominican colleagues and thank President Danilo Medina, to have expressed the importance of maintaining friendly relations between our two peoples." stressing that it was also essential that the presidents, Danilo Medina and Michel Joseph Martelly, maintain the stability of their relationships. Bilateral trade policy and migration issues were on the agenda of this meeting.

The Haitian delegation was composed among others of Jean Berthaud Dejean, Vice-consul in Barahona and of deputies Gandhy Dorfeuille, Fanel Salomon, Jules Yonel Anelus, Joseph Franck Laporte, Patrick Robasson...

Besides the members of the Dominican Permanent Commission Industry and Commerce were present as guests, among others : Karen Ricardo, the President of the Friendship Group Dominico-Haitian, and Minou Tavárez Mirabal, the President of the International Relations Commission.
