Haiti - Diplomacy : Cooperation Haiti-Cuba, on the agenda of Laurent Lamothe

Thursday, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe received Ricardo García Nápoles, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba. During this meeting, Haiti and Cuba assessed the bilateral cooperation in the fields of industry, education, agriculture, fisheries and public health and discussed of the future signing of cooperation agreements in various sectors, including the one very important of the health.

According to official statistics, since the beginning of the Cuban medical cooperation in Haiti in 1998 and until the end of July 2012, the Cuban medical missions conducted 19,110,884 consultation of patients.

Marie Carmelle Rose Anne Auguste, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Human Right and the fight against extreme poverty noted that during this period, the Cuban doctors have performed 331,724 surgeries, attended 140,598 births and saved 312,584 lives. "The support of Cuba in the fight against extreme poverty and human rights in Haiti has played a crucial role," stressed the Minister delegated.
