Haiti - Social : Exhibition of fruits and vegetables of Haiti

To celebrate World Food Day, the Harold Courlander-American Corner of the Library Monique Calixte (BMC) proposes a conference and an exhibition of fruits and vegetables of Haiti, this Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 1 p.m. [tonnelle of the FOKAL - 143, Avenue Christophe]

Mr. Carell Laurent and Mr. Harry Nicolas will be two speakers whose presentations will focus on the theme of agriculture and food.

Mr. Carell Laurent is Head of Office of feeding program assisted by the development and humanitarian aid from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Mr. Harry Nicolas (Mèt fèy vèt) is the coordinator of the organization "Kore pwodiksyon lokal" working for 5 years on the revaluation of the national production. This organization is promoting local products through radio and television in the capital and provincial towns by broadcasting commercials and documentaries explaining the importance and value of domestic production (remember the success of spot "Manman doudou")

During the day, Mr. Nicolas will make a public presentation of various agricultural products Haitian. Delegations of students from several schools of the area, will also take part in this event.

The World Food Day which will be held this year under the theme "Agricultural cooperatives: key to feeding the world", was created by member countries of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) during the Twentieth General Conference of the organization in November 1979. It is celebrated every year on October 16 throughout the world.
