Following the government retreat this weekend, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe gave an update on the major projects of North: the new University "Roi Henry Christophe" (Limonade), the airport of Cap Haitien and the opening in few days of the Industrial Park of North (Caracol).

University "Roi Henry Christophe" :

"[...] The Government decided today to support the university up to 60 million gourdes, for its operation, maintenance and its activities [...] Apart from that, as we announced on Monday will start the construction of dormitories for students and teachers. This is a $ 3 million that we make available for this work. 475 students will dispose of a dormitory, so we are very pleased with the development of this situation."

Later in the day [Monday], the Prime Minister presented a check of 35 million gourdes Jean Vernet Henry, Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH). This amount complete an initial amount of 25 million gourdes already delivered to the rectory of UEH. Jean Vernet Henry thanked the Government "[...] This gesture, we appreciate it to its true value [...]" an amount that will allow the Rector to pay among other things, certain invoices related to the purchase of equipment for laboratories of chemistry, physics and biology.

Cap Haitien Airport :

Concerning the airport of Cap Haitien, the Prime Minister indicated "[...] We know that the Cap Haitien Airport is essential to improve access to Port-au-Prince, which is the only international airport that we have, so everyone who comes from abroad is forced to land in Port-au-Prince, and then travel in other provincial cities. I'm happy to announced that the work of the airport runway advance, and it will be ready to receive large carriers, from next week. We have already 2.300 meters asphalt runway, it remains 300 meters we will do, but with 2.300 meters, we can already begin to receive large aircraft [...]"

Inauguration of Caracol Park :

Laurent Lamothe has indicated that many people will be present at the official opening of the Industrial Park of North (Caracol) planned for October 22, 2012, among other "[...] The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton, Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Group, actor Sean Penn, various investors, and of members of the Presidential Advisory Council on Economic Growth and Investment (PACEGI)" In addition, the Prime Minister announced that a meeting of PACEGI was planned to Cap Haitien, next week to present investment opportunities in the North.
