Haiti - Social : Safety of Haitian travelers in Dominican Republic
Following the numerous acts of banditry suffered by Haitian nationals including Government officials and a deputy of the 49th Legislature on the road connecting Jimani to Santo Domingo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has Tuesday invited the Dominican Ambassador to Haiti, Ruben Silie Valdez, at a working meeting at the Haitian Chancellery.

Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Jacques Nixon Myrthil, the Secretaries of State for Foreign Affairs, has reported the concern of the Government of Haiti against the repetition of such acts, which are likely to harm the good relations between the two countries.

For his part, the Dominican Ambassador stated that the Dominican Government paid special attention to the rise of social banditry, on international routes linking the two Republics.

Pierre-Richard Casimir and Ruben Silie Valdez agreed, for the police officials of the two countries meet to explore possible solutions to counteract these criminal acts and punish the guilty.
