Haiti - Diplomacy : New Ambassador of Haiti in Mexico

Thursday, October 18, 2012, the new Ambassador of Haiti, Guy G. Lamothe took his official duties after handing, during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace of the Zocalo, his credentials to Mexican President Felipe Calderón.

Ambassador Lamothe, which is in its second mission in Mexico, has a long career in Haitian diplomacy. He replaces to the position the outgoing Ambassador Robert Manuel. The arrival of the Ambassador Lamothe, is part of diplomatic relations and of partnership between the Republic of Haiti and Mexico, focusing on cooperation in several areas. At the end of the ceremony, the Ambassadeur Lamothe, received the military honors of the Mexican Presidential Guard.

After the ceremony, President Calderon, met at the Presidential Palace, with the representative of President Martelly, who was accompanied for the occasion, of his daughter Christine Lamothe, of the Minister Counsellor, Christian Toussaint, of the Councillor Sophia Désir and of 2nd Secretary Hervey Loiseau. An encounter that has been the opportunity for the Haitian Ambassador and the President Calderon, to remember the relationship of friendship and partnership that unites Mexico and Haiti, and to express their willingness to strengthen it, by promoting the Haitian culture in Mexico and inviting Mexicans to come invest in Haiti.

In the evening, a dinner was organized in honor of the new Ambassador, with some relatives and officials of the Haitian mission, at the restaurant "Torre Lomas" on the Paseo de las Palmas (Mexico).
