Friday, the President Michel Martelly accompanied of his wife Sophia Martelly, of Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe and of Rosanne Auguste, the Minister responsible for human rights and the fight against extreme poverty, proceeded to a distribution of food aid to thousands of people affected by the passage of Sandy.

It is to Village de Dieu, near the neighborhood of Martissant, that started the caravan of social assistance of the Haitian State. Thousands of families have received food kit (Panye Solidarite) [rice, maize, peas, oil, salt, treated water], of new program "Ede Pep" designed to be implemented in disadvantaged areas and the municipalities with areas of extreme poverty, according to the vulnerability map developed.

The population did not hide its satisfaction and demonstrated its gratitude to the Government. For his part, the Head of State reiterated his commitment to support the Haitian people in every situation as difficult as they are, and promised to work on measures to provide sustainable solutions to the many problems confronted by the Haitian population.

Note : The Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) is the body that runs the majority of programs grouped under the label of "Ede Pep".
