Haiti - Education : Haiti Vision and USDA renew their commitments
Thursday, during a press conference, Marie George François, Project Coordinator of Project of Haiti Vision/USDA, a Haitian NGO, working in the fields of education, agriculture, community health at the level of the Goâvienne region and of the Gonâve, in partnership with the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture), has renewed its commitment to continue its school feeding program in the schools of PetitGoâve, de Grand-Goâve and Léogâne following the passage of Sandy.

Ms. Marie George François, explained the objectives pursued within the framework of the implementation of this program "The whole team is mobilizing to have a successful year. During the month of August 2012, the administration of Haiti Vision has organized of programs of academic and professional training for teachers and directors of schools beneficiaries of school feeding project to demonstrate its willingness to ensure that students not only receive food aid, but also a quality education.

Last year was a success. Directors of schools have expressed their satisfaction about the conduct of the program. They benefited from an increase in student enrollment thanks to the food aid program. After the passage of Isaac [August 2012] and at the occasion of the new school year in order to provide relief to families [...] the program gave a special ration to the families of students, to ease their burden, which was greatly appreciated.

[...] following the recent passage of Sandy, who destroyed the plantations and caused a lot of damage in the region of Palmes (Petit-Goâve, Grand-Goâve and Léogâne), we know that the food challenges are enormous, but we want to reassure all students in our schools beneficiaries [...] that the team of Haiti Vision in partnership with the USDA, will do everything possible, to bring them its contribution in food aid and purified water [...]"
