As part of the second qualifying round of the Caribbean Cup of Nation, after their defeat on Friday (0-1) against the team of French Guiana, the Grenadiers [Senior National Selection] 3rd in the provisional rankings, had no other choice Sunday, that defeat the team of Granada [host country], to avoid the elimination and be qualify for the finals of the Caribbean Nations Cup to be held from 3 to 15 December 2012 in Antigua & Barbuda.

At Grenada National Stadium (St. George), our Grenadiers were merciless, against Grenada and won the match (2-0). Haiti opened the scoring in the first period (36') with a shot of Jean Sony Alcénat, at half-time Haiti led 1-0.

After the break, Anthony Straker player of the Grenada, scored in his own goal (56'), permanently sealing the fate of the team of Granada (2-0), which is eliminated and relegated to the 3rd position.

Haiti qualified for the finals of the Caribbean Nations Cup and finishes this second round of qualifying, in first position of the Group.

Ranking second round :

1-Haiti : 6 points 3BP – 1BC (+2)

2-French Guiana : 4 points 5BP – 5BC (0)

3-Grenada : 4 points 3BP – 4BC (-1)

4-Guyana : 3 points 5BP – 6BC (-1)

Countries selected for the final phase :

Group A : Antigua & Barbuda, Cuba, Guyana, Dominican Republic

Group B: Jamaica, Haiti, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago

The top four ranked teams in the final will qualify for the 12th edition of the Gold Cup, scheduled in the United States from July 7 to 28, 2013.
