Haiti - Social : The Prime Minister requested technical assistance from Japan

Thursday, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe met in his private residence, Mr. Kenji Kuratomi the Ambassador of Japan accredited to Haiti, in order to define the priority areas of the cooperation Haitiano-Japanese.

To support the recovery of domestic production and address the damage caused by the passage of Isaac and Sandy, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, fisheries and livestock, the Head of Government has requested a more extensive technical assistance, with the Japanese Government. Laurent Lamothe wish that some donations granted to Haiti, by Japan, are used for the purchase of seed and fertilizer to support farmers and to shield them from the period of drought.

In addition, to ensure the availability of products of basic necessitieson the market and avoid the high prices, the Prime Minister proposed to conclude soon, a rice supply agreement with the Japanese government over a period determined to combat the high cost of living .

Head of Government has promised to the Ambassador, to make a report of the meeting to the President Martelly, which is scheduled to visit Japan during the month of December, to discuss of relations of cooperation between the two countries.
