Following the visit to Miami of Godson Orélus, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), a delegation of the North Miami Police, ed by the Haitian-American, Marc Elias Jr., Chief of Police of North Miami made since the beginning of the week a visit to exchange experiences in Haiti. "These exchanges should allow the PNH to develop better strategies to fight more effectively against banditry and insecurity," declared Marc Elias Jr., recalling that his team of North Miami, had obtained excellent results in this matter.

Marc Elias Jr., who met with the authorities responsible of the security on, his experiences in the fight against crime in Miami, praised the work of Godson Orélus and its agents, Mr. Elias Jr. called Haitian police to show discipline to be more effective in their mission to protect the lives and property of people.

Informed of the crime rate in Haiti, the Chief of Police of North Miami, said that there was not really increasing insecurity in Haiti and described as crimes of opportunity, certain actions taken by the bandits while stressing that "Haiti is not the only country where insecurity reigns [...]"

In addition, this week, Godson Orélus, denied there was a rise in insecurity in the country, as stated in an alarming way, some organizations of civil society. He argues instead that the murders recorded in recent days in the capital, can not in any circumstances be regarded as an indication of increased insecurity and it is a misperception... According to Mr. Orélus compared to October and November 2011, the number of murders committed in the metropolitan area, for the same period in 2012, would decline.

However, without underestimating the new strategies adopted by bandits, he announced that additional measures have been put in place and promised that the PNH will overcome all the criminal networks that operate in the territory of Haiti.
