At the invitation of the Deputy of the constituency, Mr. Antoine Rodon Bien Aimé, Ms. Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism at the head of a delegation composed of Ms. Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Yanick Mézil, Minister for Women and M. Wilner Valcin, Secretary of State for Planning, went recently, in the municipality of Cerca Carvajal, to assess the tourism potential, to learn about the needs of the region and visit some projects in progress, including the construction of a new school that will accommodate 700 students in the next school year.

But the big attraction of the day was the visit of a large cave located on a small hill of the locality of Nan Rang, discovered last March 20, 2012, by a local resident, Mr Charles Gerbier. According to the explanations of Mr. Gerbier, this cave [which according to popular history, would have served as a refuge for combatants Cacos (name of Haitian guerrillas fighting against the U.S. occupation of 1915)], would include "52 rooms with impressive dimensions, the most ornate of drawings." The cave of Cerca Carvajal was named " Grotte Benoit Batraville" in honor to the guerrilla leader.

The delegation, has be able to partly visit this cave, and has indeed observed significant natural vaults. Stéphanie Villedrouin estimates that this natural curiosity, could provide added value to the community and announced on this subject, the arrival of a team of speleologists (already working on the site of the cave Marie-Jeanne in Port-à-Piment in southern Haiti) to explore and conduct studies on this new site.

Ms. Villedrouin recalled that the National Road, currently being rehabilitated, is a tremendous asset that can promote the influx of visitors to the new cave "Benoît Battraville".
