Haiti - Education : A vocational training center of $3,5 million
Following a mission, of the Tripartite Commission for the implementation of the law Hope (Hope-CTMC) in Korea, last year, the Korean Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has awarded 3.5 million dollars to Haiti for the creation of a training center of 1,500 square meters, on the site of Caracol Industrial Park. The Centre will train 1,000 students annually to the techniques of sewing, computer and equipment maintenance.

Two years are needed for the construction of the Centre and the implementation of modern equipment, as well as to define the academic curriculum. South Korean teachers will be responsible for training instructors in Haiti, which will be responsible for the training of students.

A Memorandum of Understanding should be signed soon between the Haitian government and the government of South Korea for the implementation of this project which should receive its first batch of students in 2014.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) and the National Society of Industrial Parks (SONAPI) will take care of the coordination of the project in terms of management, monitoring and maintenance, making a land, and the provision of basic infrastructure (water, electricity and access).
