On Wednesday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe has completed his official visit to Vietnam. Accompanied by the Ministers of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Minister of Economy and Finance and several executives of the Public Administration, the Head of Government said he was satisfied with the results of his trip.

On the sidelines of this visit the Head of Government met with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, where he transmitted the vision of the President of the Republic of Haiti on business diplomacy. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to invite potential investors to invest more in Vietnam Haiti and strategic partnerships in the areas of nergy, infrastructure and agribusiness "We want to benefit from the experience of Vietnam in agriculture in general and rice production in particular. He also insisted on the importance of culture to bring people together and develop a appropriate framework to promote mutual understanding and lay the foundations for economic cooperation, and proposed to his interlocutor the joint organization of a week of Vietnam in Haiti within the framework of the next fortnight the Francophonie held in Haiti in March 2013.

During these exchanges, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Haitian Prime Minister stressed the need to strengthen their cooperation in trade, agriculture, science and technology, education, health, safety food, culture, sport, tourism and the fight against poverty. Both parties have agreed to establish a framework agreement, aimed, inter alia, to the visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports, encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments.

In addition, to intensify bilateral relations, the Head of Government announced that it would consult with the President Michel Martelly to open an embassy in Hanoi. The President Truong Tan Sang has, for his part, said that Vietnam was ready to share its experiences and cooperate in several areas with Haiti.

Prime Minister Lamothe also met Nguyen Sinh Hung, President of the Vietnamese National Assembly, where they agreed, of an active cooperation between the two countries, on the political and social plan. Concerning the situation in the East Sea, Laurent Lamothe said to support the willingness of countries in the region to maintain a peaceful and stable environment to resolve disputes through peaceful negotiations based on international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.

Exchanges resulting from this official visit to Vietnam, are beneficial to both nations and the Prime Minister reiterated his firm determination to allow Haiti to become more competitive to receive these potential investors.
