The President Michel Martelly, attended, Friday, at a Mass to the Church Saint-Pierre of Petion-ville for the recovery of the health of his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez, who underwent surgery for a cancer in the pelvic area last Tuesday in Havana (Cuba).

At the initiative of the Venezuelan Embassy in Haiti, the Eucharist was celebrated by Mgr Pierre André Pierre, in the presence of Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, members of the Cabinet, the Venezuelan Ambassador, Pedro Antonio Gonzalez Canino, and civilian personalities, Haitian and Venezuelan.

The presence of Haitian authorities at the ceremony, demonstrates once more the degree of solidarity and friendship of Haiti to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in particular and to the Government and people of Venezuela in general "I am pleased that you have come in large numbers to pray for President Hugo Chavez," declared the Head of State at the end of the mass.

Also satisfies of this manifest solidarity, Ambassador Pedro Antonio Canino González thanked the political and religious authorities of Haiti and the entire people of Haiti.

On behalf of the Government and people of Haiti, the President of the State wished a speedy recovery to his Venezuelan counterpart. The Head of State recalled that "the President Hugo Chavez is a friend, a brother for Haiti. It sets up social programs for a wellness in favor of vulnerable families throughout the region, particularly in Haiti..."
