Haiti - Economy : Inauguration of 3 new markets

Monday, Bertrand Roy, Representative of the Director General of Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) accompanied of Yanick Mézile, Minister for Women and Women's Rights, who represented the President Martelly, and the Mexican Ambassador in Haiti, Luiz Manuel Lopez Moreno inaugurated the new communal market of Kenscoff.

On a surface area of ​​2.000 m2, the market, that can receive several thousands of merchants, is equipped with a recovery system of rain water, 8 toilets, several showers and a basin for washing food.

Funded by Mexico to the tune of 485,000 dollars, the market is part of bilateral relations Haiti-Mexico. Mexico has a fund of $ 5 million for the rehabilitation or construction of 16 markets in 8 municipalities in the country. Speaking to merchants the Ambassador Luiz Manuel Lopez Moreno declared "Inhabitants of Kenscoff, this market is yours, your duty is to protect it, keep it clean and in good condition."

In addition, that same day, Jude Edouard Pierre President of the communal Commission of Carrefour, celebrated the inauguration of markets of Bizoton and of Lamentin. The Minister Mézile who also attended the inaugurations, drew the public attention to the importance of the construction of these two markets that will contribute to the development of the town of Carrefour and invited the merchants to maintain the cleanliness of these places.
