Haiti - Diaspora : Wishes and Invitations of the Consulate of Chicago

The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago expresses to the entire Haitian community, his wishes of Merry Christmas 2012 and Happy New Year 2013.

The Consul General, Lesly Condé take this opportunity to remind to the compatriots of Chicago and throughout the Midwest, and to the friends of Haiti that the 1st and 2 January 2013 bring respectively the 209th anniversary of our National Independence and Ancestors day

"On this occasion, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago invites the brothers and sisters of the community, to a solemn mass to be celebrated on Sunday, January 1 at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace located at 7801 South Jeffery, Chicago. After the religious ceremony, a reception will be held in the basement of the church. This invitation extends to faithful of all faiths.

Also, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti, the Midwest Association of Haitian American Women (MAHAW), and the Consular Mission and other local organizations, invites all compatriots to a large community gathering, to be held from 7:00 pm, at the Levy Center, located at 300 Dodge Ave., Evanston.

In the program, various speakers, songs, poems, musical etc... Traditional pumpkin soup will be served and a memory of our beloved Haiti, will be given to all attendees. We will take the opportunity to honor the memory of victims of the 2010 earthquake.

Always to mark this important date, the Mission will address Sunday, 6 January 1590 on the 1590 AM and on the www.1590haiti.com from 7:00 to 9:00 pm a topic entitled : 'The recognition of the independence of Haiti: : a challenge unprecedented in the history of diplomacy and international relations of the country.'

The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago, encourages members of our large family, to come in number demonstrate their national pride and their solidarity, by welcoming the new year in harmony and respect."
