Haiti - Carnival 2013 : Formation of the National Committee and organization details

"Ann pote kole : Yon Aysyen yon pye bwa" is the theme chosen to National Carnival, to be held this year in Cap Haitien 10, 11, 12 February 2013. A sub-theme was also chosen "Istwan’n se idantite’n" announced Wednesday Mario Dupuy, the Minister of Culture during a press conference with members of the National Committee responsible for organizing the Carnival 2013.

The mandate of the National Committee will end May 12, 2013

In addition, last Friday, during his visit to Cap Haitien for a planning meeting, Mario Dupuy, recalled that Carnival 2013 was not just an entertainment, but a real economic industry generating income and employment.

Concerning the route, Nonce Zéphyr, who heads the 2013 National Carnival Committee indicated that the Boulevard of Cap, from strret 5 to street 90 had been selected for the course [1.8 to 2 km.]

Minister of Tourism, who accompanied Mario Dupuy at this meeting, had indicated that the level of accommodation, the inventory of guest rooms had started and what does not rule out, like last year in Les Cayes, to bring the cruise ship "Adriana" to increase the accommodation capacity.

She also unveiled a package of measures to make of the Carnival 2013 a success, including : the rehabilitation of the section Cap-Haitien-Ennery, to facilitate the arrival of participants who do not wish to go through the Central Plateau to go to in the historic capital of the country ; Welcome kiosks, Info-Tourism, placed in several strategic locations (like Ouanaminthe and Cap-Haïtien) to guide local and international visitors to hotels and tours available for the event (8 to 10 circuits) ; Increase of flights going to Cap-Haitien and Rate fixed for drivers-guides of Cap-Haitien Airport "We want to show the whole world that we can organize an event of this magnitude, with a million people in the streets, without serious incidents, a way of saying that Haiti is safe and 'open for business'".
