Saturday in the gardens of the school Jean Marie Vincent [Tabarre 48], the new mayor of Tabarre, Serge Auguste in the presence of William Lacy Swing, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), of Mrs. Georgieva, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and a member of the European Commission, some students of the school and of beneficiaries of the relocation program of IOM, has proceeded symbolically, during a ceremony at the official closing of the IDP camp, installed since 3 years, on the grounds of the school.

Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva, said she was very touched by the memory of 12 January 2010 and promised to allocate $9 million, for the completion of the rehabilitation of the school Jean Marie Vincent. Speaking to students of the institution and beneficiaries she declared "You can dare to dream, and if you dream, your dreams will become reality."

William Lacy Swing, said he observed considerable effort, 3 years after January 12, 2010, while acknowledging that much remains to be done, adding that "The emergency is not over, it is always necessary to work actively to improve the situation of people who are still living in camps [...] in particularly difficult conditions."

On the 1,500 camps initial 400 IDP camps still host nearly 390.000 people. Let us recall that through various return programs, implemented in 2011 by the Haitian government, supported by the Community and international organizations, over 630,000 people have received assistance to be rehoused in the communities where they lived before 12 January 2010.
