Haiti - Culture : Preview of the film «Broken Stones»
Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 7:00 pm, the documentary [61 mins] Broken Stones [2011] of the Haitian director Guetty Felin, will be screened in preview, at the French Institute of Haiti, 99, avenue Bois Verna Lamartinière [Free Admission]. Co-produced by Enfin Bref Productions and BelleMoon Productions, Broken Stones received the Grand Prize of Best Documentary at the Festival International of Belize in 2012 and the Special Jury Prize at the Festival Trinidad and Tobago.

Guetty Felin, puts his camera in the oldest neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, but also the most devastated by the January 2010 earthquake, the neighborhood of the Cathedral. She filmed the lives of people moving through the maze of ruins and remains of what was once the imposing cathedral, now, for the moment, a surreal theater, witness of living conditions of Haitian of neighborhood.

Independent filmmaker confirmed Guetty Felin was born in Port-au-Prince. She spent her childhood in New York and then moved to Paris. Very attached to her origins, she initiated in 2004, with Michèle Stephenson the cultural program "Haiti on screen", which allowed the public to discover or rediscover the films that have marked the history of Haitian cinema. After a inauguration in New York, the film was presented in Paris in the festival "Haiti en Scène" then at FESPACO in Burkina Faso. Guetty Felin also participated in the creation of Jacmel Film Festival in 2004 and co-founded the Collective "2004 Images", an association for the promotion of the Haitian culture through audiovisual and cinema.
