Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly met the diaspora of Santiago (Chile)
Saturday on the sidelines of his participation in the 2nd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean (CELAC), the President Michel Martelly met the diaspora living in the Chilean capital, Santiago.

The Head of State wanted first inquire about the situation of Haitians living in large numbers in the Chilean capital. After having encouraged them in their various daily activities, the President held discussions with them on the various difficulties which prevented them to thrive in a foreign land with dignity.

This meeting that was held in a friendly atmosphere, has allowed more than 200 of our compatriots to submit to President Martelly their list of grievances. They asked the Head of State its accompaniment for the certification of their studies, in order to facilitate their integration into Chilean universities and also on the necessity to strengthen the Haitian culture through diplomatic representations as well as the legalization of their brothers and sisters in Chile. The President Martelly has promised to strengthen the capacity of the Embassy of Haiti in Santiago in order to better support them.



A few minutes before the meeting, the Head of State had spoken with Rodrigo Delgado Mocarquer, the Mayor of the municipality of Estación Central, which has guaranteed him the implementation of programs that can facilitate job creation for the benefit of Haitian, learning Spanish and the development of sports and cultural activities.
