Friday, January 25, Me Lucmane Délille, the Government Commissioner conducted a major police operation in Delmas 2 and Bel Air, two popular neighborhoodsof the capital, which mobilized 126 agents of the National Police of Haiti, supported by 28 police officers of the UNPol and 326 Brazilian peacekeepers of the Minustah.

Five response teams composed of specialized agents have made searches, while others were carrying out identity checks on 13 peripheral points, securing the zone. 62 people including six gang leaders were arrested, 6 stolen motorcycles were also seized by the PNH.

According to the PNH, the operation was in response to a wave of shootings and gang activity recorded recently in the disadvantaged neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince.
