Haiti - Economy : Creation of 2 new industrial free zone 13/03/2013 10:55:12
The new free zone of the SIDSA, with an area of 3 carreaux of land, includes the construction of two modern industrial buildings of more than 10,000 m2 each, and circulation areas allowing easy movement of 56 containers of 40 feet. Attractive facilities that will encourage foreign promoters to settle in Haiti. In addition, an addendum to the agreement between the Haitian government and the West Indies Industrial Mill (WIIM) [whose projects are in the area of Cité Soleil and Tabarre] was signed for the establishment of ab industrial free zone to Varreux, in the town of Cité Soleil. The President of the CNZF, said that the signing of this addendum increases the land assets of the company from 19.6 to 24.69 carreaux and implies an increase of the initial investment of the WIIM from 45.4 to 87.4 million U.S. dollars. A project that will allow the creation of over 21,000 direct jobs and 100,000 indirect jobs for the Haitian people, according to information provided. The Minister Laleau commended the efforts of all stakeholders who contributed to these projects, and said he was proud on behalf of the Haitian government, of the signing of these agreements generators of thousands of jobs, that Haiti so desperately needs.
