Haiti - Culture : Inauguration of the School of Music Nemours Jean-Baptiste, in Martissant 20/03/2013 13:05:12
This project initiated by the Foundation Konpa Dirèk is now a reality in Martissant, thanks to a partnership between the Foundation, the Ministry of Social Affairs and USAID. In his remarks for the occasion, the Minister Charles Jean-Jacques emphasized the significance of the event that "allow us to clearly see of what the community of Martissant is capable. We remember well the low level of development of the area in time," recalling that the Government Martelly-Lamothe intended to promote change and remake the image of Martissant. The Minister emphasized the spirit of community involvement exemplary, which has presided to the realization of this project, a real model that the President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, intend to promote actively in the development and implementation of opportunities originating from grassroots communities. Charles Jean-Jacques expressed the firm intention of his ministry to continue to work with communities for a gradual improvement in the social situation of the country. In this regard, the Ministry favors the strategies of social innovation, that mobilize the resources and expertise of community social entrepreneurs, committed and serious, through a normative framework and simple management procedures to ensure efficiency and transparency in the implementation of partnership projects. In addition, he recalled that his Ministry was actively working, in the government program "Ede Pèp" in order to systematize the implementation of other community projects, including community restaurants and bakeries or the benefit of the most vulnerable. In this regard, in the wake of the implementation of the "Caisse d’Assistance Sociale", of the first community restaurant in Martissant in January 2012, which today offers food to about 500 people, the ministry is committed to open a second community restaurant in Martissant in a near future, in order to improve the response to the food needs of the population .
