Haiti - Politic : Prime Minister makes surprise visit to the Directorate of Immigration 25/03/2013 12:40:06
Friday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe made a surprise visit to the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration. The Head of Government explained the purpose of the visit "[...] I spoke with the population I spoke with the people came to make passport application [...] we also sat down with the Director of Immigration and his team, so that we can understand how progress are made here. [...] There is a new hall which is built here, which will improve services and the Director has given us the guarantee that in the next 6-7 months the service will be better. Points were raised, that we will address at the government level to make the service of immigration more welcoming a service where the customer feels more comfortable, there are 2-3 improvements that the Directorate will take immediately, in order to improve customer service. The Director gave us a guarantee that they will work on that. We work with the Director to reduce the issue of corruption, we have asked the Director to arrange for corruption is reduced, especially at the racketeers who take people's money [...] that the services rates are displayed for customers coming to know exactly how much it costs [...] we will continue to work to improve services to the population, we are working in conditions that are not easy [...] but we have the willingness in place, the political will is already there, for we can give a better service to the public [...] this is why we came personally, to come and do an inventory, see what there are, talk with people, talk with the Directorate, see how is the situation, understand the reality [...] so that changes can be made as soon as possible..."
