Haiti - Politic : Several Cooperation agreements should be signed in Côte d'Ivoire

At the invitation of the Government of Côte d'Ivoire, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, who left Haiti on Tuesday, is expected in the Ivorian capital, on Wednesday early evening around 7:30 p.m. (local time). During his stay, Laurent Lamothe should sign with the Ivorian authorities several cooperation agreements including in the areas of "education, agribusiness, security, tax reform and the management port."

During his visit, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe will visit among others the Autonomous Port of Abidjan and various processors of coffee and cocoa in order to benefit from the expertise Ivorian in this sector.

Monday, in an interview with Ivorian Press Agency (AIP) Oswald Louéké, Honorary Consul of Haiti in Côte d'Ivoire, pointed out that "Haiti was struggling to establish a good tax system" and that Haïti wished to "take ownership of the system set up by the Ivorian authorities and see how refined or adjust its tax system," adding that this sector of activity will be the subject of the signature of an agreement between the two States.

On the other hand, the Honorary Consul reported that Haiti also wished to benefit from the expertise of Ivorians in terms of port management. Recalling that Côte d'Ivoire has a major port complex. "This sector will be the subject of the signature of a convention of cooperation between the two countries," declared Oswald Louéké.

Moreover, according to the diplomat, the Culture "is the strong point of Haiti, we want to share this value with Côte d'Ivoire [...] future agreements between Côte d'Ivoire and Haiti, will allow students Haitians to come to continue their studies in universities Ivorian."

According to the Honorary Consul of Haiti, the Haitian authorities also intend to take inspiration from all security reforms carried out in Côte d'Ivoire in order to establish stability in Haiti "Therefore, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed in this area between the Haitian authorities and Ivorian."

On the other hand, according to Oswald Louéké, Haiti wishes to share his knowledge with Côte d'Ivoire in various fields, especially in the "garbage recycling and their transformation in renewable energy."

Oswald Louéké announced to the AIP, that following this official visit, "we will make an economic mission in Haiti with twenty entrepreneurs of Côte d'Ivoire of sectors of agribusiness, services, banking and insurance, and culture."

On Friday, the Prime Minister will meet with the Haitian community living in Côte d'Ivoire at Honorary Consulate to Cocody-Ambassade (Abidjan-East).
