Haiti - Reconstruction : The Town Bassin-Bleu has finally a real town hall ! 29/03/2013 11:31:53
Great first in the town of Bassin-Bleu [Northwest of Haiti], which, for the first time since its inception 45 years ago, finally has a real town hall. "For over 45 years, the City was deprived of a building, the Haitian government was only renting a space inappropriate [...] I did not have an office, the other two mayors and me, were obliged to cram into a small room," explained Belizaire Manigat, the interim municipal agent. This new town hall, inaugurated last week, which will serve a population of 58,000 inhabitants, took 3 months of work [carried out by the NGO "Agro Action Allemande" (AAA)] was funded to the tune of 95,000 U.S. dollars, as part of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) of the Minustah. The new building, built in compliance with seismic standards, includes six offices, a conference room, a deposit and a cistern. "Today we are in the best conditions to effectively manage the administration," rejoiced Anivia Tanis, Deputy Mayor of Bassin Bleu. For his part, Paulin Régnard, Head of Regional Office of the Minsutah in the Northwest, said that the town hall was "one of the most important achievements of the Minustah in this department."
