Haiti - Religion : The President Martelly to the Caribbean Conference of Churches

On Wednesday, the President Michel Martelly, participated in the Caribbean Conference of Churches. This conference was held from April 15 to 18 at the Visa Lodge Hotel around the theme : "Diakonia and the ability to serve God".

The Head of State, in the presence of more than twenty religious leaders of the Caribbean region and a dozen Haitian religious authorities, invited all the leaders of the Church to continue to help the poor and defend the weak.

The President has also thanked the pastors and priests, for the different actions undertaken in favor of the country's most disadvantaged social strata and their commitments in the formation of young people at all levels, while acknowledging that the task was not easy. In addition, he promised to continue to work in order to still deserve the confidence of the people and create a society based on equality of opportunity, where solidarity, justice and order prevail.

The Pastor Sylvain Exantus, President of the Federation of Protestant Churches of Haiti, for his part, recalled the mission of the Church in the world. He also urged his peers to work together in order to provide answers to the suffering of the most vulnerable communities.

For his part, the Reverend Lesley Anderson, President of the Caribbean Conference of Churches, expressed his gratitude to the Head of State to have responded to their invitation and congratulated the President Martelly for his efforts to build a prosperous country based on democratic principles.
