Haiti - NOTICE : Postponement of activities of the JND, at TCI
The Consulate of Haiti in the Turks and Caicos has the regret to inform that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Celebration of the "Haitian National Diaspora Day" (JND) scheduled to take place on Saturday April 20th, 2013, has been postponed.

As it has been reported in the local media, several illegal vessels carrying Haitian migrants made landfall on TCI shores this week. While deploring this regrettable situation, the Consulate feels that, due to the seriousness of the matter, it should focus on addressing this grave and pressing issue. In this regard, the Consulate has been holding constructive discussions with the local authorities in order to find a way to stem the unrelenting flow of people trying to enter the Turks and Caicos illegally.

Recall that Wednesday, April 17, the President Martelly in his speech of official launch of activities of the Week of the Diaspora gave the assurance that his administration is working tirelessly to ensure that the future generations do not have to expatriate. "Living abroad should be a choice and not the result of poor governance or structural problems," stressed Mr. Martelly who promised the establishment of structures capable to gather relevant and dynamic personalities of the Diaspora for the sustainable development of Haiti. He also reminded the Diaspora, all those who have doubts about their future in the country, that Haiti was and remains a land of great opportunities "Gen kòb nan kakawo – nan kafe – nan vetivè – nan lotèl - nan pò ak nan aeropò- nan sit touristik, nan konstriksyon, nan inivèsite peyi a bezwen, nan lopital ki fèt pou byen jere [...] "

The Consulate wants to thank all those who have expressed interest in and brought their support to the celebration of the "Haitian National Diaspora Day" in the Turks and Caicos and will inform as soon as possible about the new date of this special event.
