Haiti - Reconstruction : End of tour of Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa
After his tour in Europe, and in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa, before returning to Quito, visited Haiti on Tuesday for a brief official visit of a few hours, the last stop of his tour.

The President Michel Martelly, welcomed with all the honors, the President Rafael Correa, his off the plane at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, before attending a working session at the Diplomatic Lounge, in the presence of some members of Ecuadorian government and personalities around issues related, among others, to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the promotion of investments of foreign capital for the creation of jobs.

"It's always a moment of joy to come to Haiti. We came to visit the second phase of projects of bilateral cooperation between Haiti and Ecuador ", rejoiced the President Correa. He also expressed his satisfaction at the support provided as part of the reconstruction of Haiti, by the engineering corps of the Ecuadorian contingent of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti, based in Petite Riviere de l'Artibonite.

After this working session, President Correa, accompanied by the President Martelly, and María Fernanda Espinosa, Ecuador's Defense Minister, went by helicopter in the Artibonite to visit sites carried out ​​by the Ecuadorian engineering corps.

In Petite Riviere de l'Artibonite, the two Presidents, after reviewing the Ecuadorian troops, proceeded to the inauguration of a bridge over the river Espagnole that now links more easily, the third communal section Labadi to the downtown of Petite-Rivière and its surroundings.



A small place with the name of President Eloy Alfaro and a stretch of road of 11.5 km rehabilitated in clay, facilitating the flow from Petite-Rivière to Labadi and its surroundings were also inaugurated. These achievements are important insofar as they contribute greatly to the development of agriculture especially in the Artibonite.

Moreover, the two heads of state have visited the National Schools Ségure where reconstruction is underway and Savien whose buildings [12 classrooms, one computer room and several other rooms housing separately the Directorate, the Secretariat, the kitchen and the toilet] were built by the Ecuadorian contingent. All this constitutes the second phase of projects in this region, whose the cost of achieving amount$28 million.

"South-South cooperation model is ideal. In this type of cooperation, the results are palpable," declared with satisfaction the Head of Government, addresing on behalf of the Haitian people, its thanks to its counterpart in Ecuador and to the Ecuadorian people.

Very attentive to the demands of citizens, the President of the Republic announced a Health Centre and the cleaning of the river Espagnole in the communal section of Labadi. He also promises to explore ways and means that will allow to establish electricity.

At the end of the visit, the President Martelly taken back his guest to Toussaint Louverture International Airport for the return to Quito.
