Haiti - Politic : Installation of new Director General of the EPPLS 24/04/2013 13:23:03
"The housing crisis rampant in the country does not start today, it continues to the point to take an alarming proportion since the earthquake of January 12, 2010, which destroyed tens of thousands of homes, depriving number of owners of their shelter." With these words, the Minister of Social Affairs has attracted the attention of the new Director of the EPPLS on the main challenge that awaits him at the head of this institution. The Minister Jean-Jacques indicated that the housing crisis that knows currently the country, interpellates at the highest level, to the point of implementing a social security policy, whose one of the main axes revolves around this problem, which requires the mobilization of all resources "It goes without saying that the mission of the institution can not be reduced to manage housing units during the rental period, but also put the emphasis on a program of actions, aimed to gradually address the waiting for more possible citizens," focusing on the task at which the engineer Miot is called and whose issue is to the dimension of the confidence that the Government has placed in him. Inviting the new Director to get to work by best use of the resources that will be made available to him to optimize performance, the Minister reminded the engineer Miot, as often repeats the Head of State, that he has a mission of service. And that nothing should be neglected in the exercise of its functions, because it must take into account all parameters, joint efforts to achieve the results that the country expects of him. For his part, Mr. Thys Miot thanked and expressed his deep gratitude to the Head of State and the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, who have honored him by their confidence, by placing him at the head of the EPPLS, whose importance in the device of social welfare and security of the country, is well established. Prepare, plan, implement and manage as part of the national social housing policy, of projects for families and individuals with the lowest income, the accession to adequate housing, disseminate all documentation relating to the housing sector, require the technical, scientific and financial cooperation of national, international organizations and private companies, such are the allocations entrusted to the institution whose the new Director said he was aware "The people whose housing conditions have worsened since the earthquake of January 12, 2010, requires living spaces that reflect their dignity, its history and its need for modernity. Too many uncertainties tend to negatively affect our quality of life and exacerbate the social risk. It is up to us the duty to face it with courage and efficiency," taking the opportunity to show his marks of attention towards his predecessor, Mr. Elonge Othellot, absent in the ceremony, but which contributed acording to believe Mr. Miot, to the progress of the institution. To the Executives and employees of the EPPLS, the new Director General, has promised to work towards a comprehensive plan to meet the challenges of modernity, relevance and effectiveness "requirements of the times we live and that we share."
