Haiti - Education : KOICA offers Fellowship Programs to Haitian Government

The Office of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Haiti, announced that a new Country-Specific Fellowship Program for 2013 entitled "Environmental Protection Policy" will take place in Korea to provide a training for Haitian government officials.

KOICA, as an aid Agency from the Korean government has performed Korea’s Development Cooperation Programs since the foundation in 1991 for developing countries with its Motto of "Cooperation for a Better World" in the spirit of "Share and Serve". This program of Environment Protection Policy will be held in Seongnam and Incheon cities, Korea from May 2 to May 18, 2013 for ten (10) Haitian government officials from the Ministry of Environment. It aims to share policies and technologies for environmental protection in Korea, the concept of green growth and sustainable development, and help Haiti to cope with the climate changes.

The Republic of Korea has realized remarkable economic growth in less than half a century, transforming itself from an aid-recipient to a donor in international community and now it represents the 13th largest economy in the world. "Training and sharing of expertise like the Country–Specific Fellowship Program help our partner countries build their administrative and technical expertises in both the public and private sectors," said Mr. Sae Chul OH, Chief Representative in the Haitian office of the KOICA.

KOICA has worked with the Haitian government through Development Programs such as Fellowship Programs of training and Master Degree Scholarship and Project-type Cooperations since the earthquake in January 2010 with the budget of US$ 10,000,000.

KOICA will continue to strive to become one of the best partners for Haitian government and people.
