Under the chairmanship of Dany Laferrière the event "encounters in Haiti" will open its doors on Wednesday, May 1 at 5:00 pm in the premises of the FOKAL, as well as the Book Fair which will offer more than 500 titles with 40% discount. Initiated by "Mémoire d’encrier" on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the publishing house, "Québec encounters in Haiti" which will continue until May 8, 2013 aimed to approach culturally Quebec and Haiti who have the French language in common.

During this week, in addition to the many activities that will also take place in provinces the Quebec writers, among others : Alain Deneault, André Roy, Bertrand Gervais, Catherine Voyer-Léger, Élise Turcotte, Émile Martel, India Desjardins, Laure Morali, Louise Dupré, Marie-Hélène Poitras, Michel Vézina, Pierre Nepveu, Robert Giroux, Sonia K. Laflamme, Yara El-Ghadban, Yvon Rivard... will dialogue with Haitian writers [among others : Claude C. Pierre, Danielle Magloire, Dominique Batraville, Emmelie Prophète, Evelyne Trouillot, Franketienne, Frantz Duval, Gary Victor, Jean-Euphèle Milcé, James Noël, Jean-Robert Léonidas, Lyonel Trouillot, Makenzy Orcel, Marc Exavier, Marie-Alice Théard,Michel Soukar, Paula Péan,Verly Dabel, Yanick Lahens...
