Haiti - Reconstruction : Jacmel, a city under construction
Thursday the President Michel Martelly carried out a visit in Jacmel (Southeast) to assess the progress of various construction sites in progress concerning inter alia the future Convention Center, the new communal market and an Administrative Complex funded at a cost of more than $3 million by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), interrupted for several years and reactivated since several months following the intervention of the Head of State.
The President Martelly, also assess the work of gabionade in Grande Rivière, of infrastructure at the entrance of the city and the redevelopment of the beach Raymond-les-Bains and the Place of the Grande Colombie "I note that the infrastructure work is progressing very well in Jacmel," declared the President Martelly, which, however, made certain recommendations relating to compliance with building standards.
At the Tourist Wharf of Jacmel, before a large crowd, the Head of State, in the presence of Senator Edwin Zenny, the former Senator Joseph Lambert, the Mayor of Jacmel, Paul Hughes and the Departmental Delegate Pierre-Michel Lafontant among others, noted the efforts already made by the Administration in two years, to improve the lives of Haitians. However, he made it clear that much remained to be done "Haiti is a country to built on a 25-year period. To achieve this, every citizen must fulfill its responsibilities."
The President of the Republic, also celebrated the opening of the "Villa Nicole" (Boutique-Hotel, Plage) in Kabic (Cayes-Jacmel), the result of a significant investment by a member of the Haitian private sector Mr. Yves Wynn François. In his speech, the President Martelly has invited other Haitian investors to follow this example.
