The first edition of the "Next Beat" contest of the Foundation Haiti Jazz and Ayiti Mizik, with the support of ARCHES program launched on April 24, is a "springboard" to discover new talent which offers the chance to emerging groups to perform on stage and record a music in a professional studio. This contest will end in late June 2013 with a concert that will bring together the best musical groups in each category (Konpa, urban music, gospel music, classical, jazz, traditional music and songs.)

Sixty applications were submitted and analyzed for two days by a committee composed of a dozen professionals of the music in order to retain 28 groups.

Thursday, May 2, the first 14 hearings "live" took place at the restaurant Villate they are for the category Traditional Music : Avantaj, Desir Guimmy, Jean Gardy Pierre, Jean-Marie Lizaire, Nixon & Jah Pazan and Samba Kreyòl. For the category Konpa Music : Enèji, Jean Bernard Antoine, Konpa and "Kukora the famous" and finally, for the Gospel Music category "Alive for Gad", Antoine Auralie, Gervais Daniel, Little voice and Stephanie Moise.

Monday, 14 other participants will be auditioned from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Villate.

At the end of these auditions, 3 groups per category will be selected to participate in concerts "show cases" before an audience of enthusiasts and fans as well as before professional of the music : producers, entrepreneurs show, managers, record labels, journalists, radio hosts, and maybe have the chance to see propel their passion into a career.

These public concerts will be held from 15 May to 12 June 2013 and will be scheduled from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the concert halls of Port-au-Prince and Petion-Ville (Programming to be released in the coming days).
