Haiti - Education : Took office of Interim Executive Committee of the ISERSS
Last week, the Executive Council of the State University of Haiti (UEH) has proceeded to the inauguration of Interim Executive Committee of the Institute of Studies and Research in Social Sciences (ISERSS) [former IERAH], in order to resolve the ongoing crisis within the this institution since the failure of the second round of elections last December. The Council is composed among other of Professor Pierre Buteau, the current General Secretary of the Faculty of Ethnology, Mr. Maxwell Bellefleur and Dr. Jacques Blaise, former Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (FAMV).

In accordance with resolution passed April 27, 2013 by the University Council, the CID has essentially for mandate, for two months, of :

  • Achieve the elections within this institution
  • Create an Arbitration Committee to decide on the case of students in contravention with this institution.

Speaking at the inauguration of the members of the CID, Jean Vernet Henry, Rector of the UEH has sought the cooperation of all stakeholders so that ISERSS can regain its normal operation. The Rector argued in favor of the establishment of a genuine dialogue between the different categories of staff of the faculty and also insisted on a rigorous management of academic records in ISERSS.

Speaking on behalf of the other members of the Executive Committee of the ISERSS, the Professor Buteau said they are already working to move forward this institution "We will spare no effort to ensure that the IERAH-ISERSS functioning properly."
