Haiti - Social : 65 Haitian illegal immigrants arrested in Peru
The Peruvian authorities announced that 65 Haitian immigrants were arrested Wednesday in the city of Puerto Maldonado, in the region of Madre de Dios (Peru) after having illegally entering the country. According to information, our compatriots were en route to Brazil in search of work, a trend that has grown since 12 January 2010.

Usually, Haitian immigrants traveling to Ecuador, then cross the Peruvian border in the north through the regions of Piura and Tumbes. Since 2011, nearly 5,600 immigrants of Haitian origin arrived in Brazil, through Peru and Bolivia. Since the beginning of 2013, more than 180 Haitians have been arrested by Peruvian police.
