Haiti - Education : Ultimatum of Ministry of Education

Friday, in press conference, Yvalan Espérance Departmental Director of the West (DDO) of the Ministry of National Education has issued an ultimatum to all School principals. The latter have until Tuesday, June 11 to complete student records that have not yet been validated. "The School Principals have the weekend to complete the files of candidates who have not yet been validated by the DDO. After this time, no consideration will be made [...] we are only applying the guidelines of the Ministry. We hope that the Principals will be able to resolve their records in the shortest time [...] If last year we did not complied with all the decisions we taken, this year, the Ministry has taken these decisions since the beginning of October and we will only them apply to the letter. No student will be able to participate in examinations of Rhéto this year, if it has not passed the examinations of the 9th, for at least 3 years. This ultimatum concern about 40,000 students of Rétho in 10 departments, which are still not validated..."

Before this measure hundreds of directors who responded positively to the convening of the DDO, rejected the Ministry's that they considered too late and unenforceable this year "We have been informed of this decision in April [...] This decision comes too late" These directors suggest to validate the list of students who passed exams of 9th in 2011, and threatened, in the opposite case, to take the streets to demand the resignation of the Minister of Education, Vanneur Pierre...

Whatever happens, Rhéto exams of are scheduled from 1 to 4 July, with or without children whose records have not been validated in time...
