Saturday, Canadian Adonis Stevenson, born in Port-au-Prince, grabbed before more than 6,000 spectators, the world belts "The Ring" and WBC (World Boxing Council) of heavyweight (175 lb), on the ring of the Bell Centre in Montreal, by defeating by KO his opponent, American Chad Dawson in 76 seconds...

Early in the first round, Adonis Stevenson knocked Dwason, with a devastating left to the head. The American standing again with pain and misery, legs still soft, forcing referee Michael Griffin to stop the combat, 76 seconds after the the beginning of the first round. "Dawson got up with pain and misery when counting. In addition, his legs were not very strong. This is why the referee is there, to ensure the safety of an injured boxer," declared Griffin, after having declared the KO.

At the end of this combat, Adonis declared "I wanted to use my speed and put pressure. I wanted to mix the body and head. It worked ! Emanuel Steward, my coach told me before die, that if I faced Chad Dawson or Tavoris Cloud, I would win by KO. For me it is a dream come true ! Now I want to unify the titles with Bernard Hopkins (IBF champion heavyweight) or face Andre Ward (World Champion Classic Super Six)."

Emanuel Steward was right. Adonis Stevenson is not only become a champion, he is now a star in the world of boxing.

Adonis Stevenson is a Canadian boxer, born September 22, 1977 in Port-au-Prince, living in Greenfield Park, Quebec. He is the current world champion heavyweight of the WBC. Among amateurs, it was Quebec champion middleweight in 2004 and grabbed the national title in 2005 and 2006. In March 2006, he won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Turned professional in September 2006, he won the Canadian super-middleweight title the following year and chains 13 victories in as many combat knocking or technical knockout Mike Funk, Ferenc Lakonde, Bonnie Joe McGee, Eduardo Calderon, Etienne Whitaker, Carl Cockerham, Marcus Thomas, Alvaro Enriquez, Marlon Hayes, David Whittom and Dhafir Smith.
