Haiti - Diplomacy : President Martelly met British Chancellor Hugo Swire

Tuesday at the National Palace, President Michel Martelly, met Hugo Swire the British Foreign Minister, on an official visit in Haiti.

Accompanied by a delegation of British businessmen, Mr. Swire, who also held talks with Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Trade, Pierre Richard Casimir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Bernard Schettini, the CEO of SONAPI (National Society of Industrial Parks), expressed the willingness of his country to establish a diplomatic representation in Haiti.

A decision welcomed by the Head of State who sees an opportunity for the two countries to get closer through fruitful cooperation. "I thank the United Kingdom for its cooperation and congratulated it for the opening of its diplomatic mission in Haiti," A cooperation that target including the maritime, cultural, agricultural, environmental, energy, technology sector and the infrastructure.

Recall that since 1966, the British authorities had closed its embassy in Port-au-Prince. The British Ambassadors accredited in Haiti, since resided in the Dominican Republic.
