Haiti - Culture : The novel «Bicentenaire» of Lyonel Trouillot adapted for cinema 15/06/2013 10:32:25 François Marthouret, French actor and director, wants to adapt for teh cinema "Bicentenaire", a novel of yonel Trouillot tracing the violent protests that marked the celebration of the bicentennial of Haitian independence in January 2004, "The day of the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence of Haiti, two brothers will take different life paths. One, Lucien went to the demonstration in downtown of Port-au-Prince, the capital, and the other Little Joe, is recruited by the chimeras, a paramilitary group that was raging at that time in Haiti. The event will turn into a riot and will be dispersed in the violence, sealing the fate of the two brothers." Beyond the testimony of the history of Haiti, the director wants to put in picture the universal character of the novel of Lyonel Trouillot, when the intimate story of personal beliefs crosses the great history. François Marthouret and Sylvain Burstzejn, the producer, are in Haiti, alongside Lyonel Troulliot to finalize the preparation of the filming of "Dimanche 4 janvier". The film will be co-produced with the WFE (Belgian Society of film production), with the support of France 3 cinéma, of the Guadeloupe region and the Haitian Ministry of Culture. HL/ HaitiLibre
