Sunday, as part of the official visit to Haiti [June 14 to 16] the President of the Republic of Suriname, Desiré Delano Bouterse, Pierre-Richard Casimir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, proceeded to the signature with his Surinamese counterpart Winston Guno Lackin, at the diplomatic lounge of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport of an economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation framework agreement, and a second agreement on air transport. At the end of these two agreements, the two countries agree to strengthen their cooperation in accordance with their national laws and regulations.

It is planned among others the implementation of development projects in the areas of infrastructure, industry, trade, education, health, sports, finance, telecommunications and transport, the agriculture and livestock, energy, forestry, tourism and other areas of mutual interest such as the transfer of knowledge across agencies of the two countries and the sending of expert missions as part of the technical assistance and training.

The signing of these two new bilateral cooperation agreements, participates to the Government's vision to promote and develop South-South cooperation in the context of the reconstruction and development of Haiti. It also expresses the will of the Haitian and Surinamese governments, to closer the two Nations and strengthen their relations of friendship, solidarity and fraternity to the benefit of their populations.
