Haiti - Tourism : Meeting around public-private tourism development

This week, Mrs. Dieudonne Luma Étienne, Northern Regional Director of the Ministry of Tourism, met Ulrick Emmanuel Noe, Director of Investments of the Ministry of Tourism to discuss in general of the strategy to bring to the attention of the public and potential investors and tour operators in particular the 2002 Investment Code in force, identifying tourism as a pillar of the Haitian economy.

At this meeting, the two officials from the Ministry stressed the major role and independence, that exist between the public and private sectors in the development of tourism in Haiti, as in any other country "One can do promotion, but build a Destination requires the involvement of investors [...]" stated Mrs. Dieudonne Luma Étienne.

For his part, Ulrick Emmanuel Noel explained "It is not only the role of the State to develop the tourism sector. The state sets the tone, creating basic infrastructure, setting standards in place, but its is the role of private sector to make investment."
