Haiti - Security : Strengthening of measures for motorcycle taxi
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the National Police have announced a set of measures to enhance security, particularly in terms of motorcycle traffic.

Jean Renel Sanon, Minister of Justice informed the motorcycle drivers that as of July 15, 2013, the helmet will be mandatory.

For his part, Commissioner Will Dimanche, Director of Traffic and Traffic Police said that the motorcycle taxi drivers should be obligatory affiliated with an association to operate their business legally on public roads, adding that helmets for motorcycle taxi should be identified and numbered. Furthermore, he calls on the authorities concerned to ensure greater control over the sale of motorcycles, saying that he would do everything possible to thwart people who use motorcycles to commit crimes.

The Divisional Commissioner Godson Orélus, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) has assured his commitment for the proper execution of measures of the Minister of Justice concerning the control of motorcycle taxi industry and enforcement.
