Haiti - Tourism : Official launch of the second edition of the Festival of the Sea
Wednesday at Deco Bar-Restaurant (Cap-Haitien), Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, Director of the Northern Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism, accompanied among others by Ms Maryse Noel, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, has officially launched the activities of the 2nd Edition of the Sea Festival, which this year will take place from 9 to 11 August 2013 on the boulevard of Cap-Haitien and on the beach of Camp-Louise around the theme: "Let's keep our beaches clean !". The ceremony was attended among others by the Mayor of Cap-Haitien, Jean Renaud and of Acul du Nord, Mr. Dolcé Serge Gérard, of ean Bernard Simonet, President of the Tourist Association of North, Nuncio Zéphyr, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Professions of North and Emilio Castaneda, the Civil Chief of the Minustah branch North, Mr. Emilio Castanéda.

In his speech for the occasion Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne declared : "Yes ! Cap on the boulevard of Cap-Haitien, let's put the Cap on the Beach of Camp-Louise, to come live the experience of Festival of the Sea, organized with the necessary and unconditional support of the private sector of Cap-Haitien, tour operators in the area and various Ministries of the Department, knowing that the tourism is a cross-sector and of all the people of the North who, in one way or another, will contribute to the realization of this great activity," adding that "this Tourist-cultural event created in the perspective of the organization of Event tourism, which generally brings business opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), is intended to be a powerful tool to promote the North as a tourist destination."

Ms. Maryse Noel for her part, stressed the commitment of his Ministry to make every effort to make of the Festival of the Sea, a success. "This launch we are making today reinforces the credo of the Ministry of Tourism, which highlights the public-private partnership," thanking all those who promise to meet the challenge and put this Festival in the annals of "success stories", not only for the department but also for the Government, which makes of tourism sector a vector of sustainable development.



Recall that under the overall coordination of Ms. Dieudonne Luma Etienne, a Support Committee to the organization of the Festival was formed, composed of members of the private sector of Cap-Haitien. This Committee, met together many times to determine the activities and program of the festival promises to offer an unforgettable show.

List of Members of Support Committee :

  • Torrese Beliard Anne-Lise, Deputy Coordinator and Head of the Communication Unit ;
  • Dr Jacques François Valerie, responsible for marketing and of promotion of the event locally, nationally and internationally ;
  • Gomez Natacha,Responsible for the gourmet aspect of the event and of the accommodation of visitorss ;
  • Georges G. Sméralda, Responsible for the organization of each festival event ;
  • Dadesky Laroche Jessica, Responsible for the artistic aspect of the event ;
  • Étienne Henry-Claude, Logistic Manager.
