Haiti - Politic : Martelly denounced a group wanting to prepare a Coup, the RDNP denies 01/08/2013 14:02:53 The day after these statements, the RDNP, reacting to the statements of President Martelly, has in a statement signed by Dr. Gerard E. Beaubrun, Deputy Secretary General of Internal Affairs, categorically denied the allegations of the Head of State for their involvement in a possible coup. Statement of RDNP : "Members of the Executive Council have followed with great attention and interest the statements of Mr. Martelly on television relating to a coup. Everything in his remarks stated that he spoke of the Secretary General of the party, Mrs. Manigat. Political party aged of 34 years old, born into a foreign land, the RDNP, has never advocated and not advocating a coup. It has never been associated neither in 1991 nor in 2004, year of the bicentenary of independence, to those who made the coup the only response to political crises. With its culture of non-violence and tolerance, derived from the Christian Democrats, the RDNP always kept a loyal behavior vis-à-vis other political parties and a legalistic attitude faced with an anti-national power and even with strong dictatorial tendency. Members of National Executive Council invite Mr. Martelly to recover, because the carnival, while staying a highlight of the folk tradition, can not distract us from the legitimate concerns of the population : widespread corruption, suspicious death of an investigating judge, investigating on the presidential family, manifest willingness of power to dominate the judiciary and the legislature, pink misery, excessive unemployment, impoverishment of the middle classes, arrogance of power face the professional, willingness of the Executive to silence Me André Michel and some other opponents, disguised militia and its forms of violence. The RDNP will accompany the Haitian people in all its peaceful and democratic legal claim. For RDNP, the only way consists in ensuring the proper functioning of our institutions and political pluralism in holding fair elections at the end of the year. While inviting its members to calm and brother parties of the opposition to keep vigilant mobilization for true elections in 2013, the RDNP continues to believe in a better Haiti, until the final victory."
