Thursday, on the occasion of the celebration of the parish feast of Petit-Goâve, Our Lady of the Assumption, Bishop Guire Poulard, in a church filled with faithful, pilgrims from all over and in the presence of government officials, parliamentarians, political leaders, political activists and members of civil society, issued a message on the physical reconstruction of the Church of Petit-Goâve, the choice of Mary, mother of the Church, as a model and the commitment of everyone in the reconstruction, the fight against corruption and environmental protection.

"[...] We will now put the first stone for the reconstruction of the Catholic Church of Petit-Goâve, which was destroyed in the earthquake of January 2010, this church will always exist. The contribution of each is necessary for the stone bears fruit [...]

The Virgin Mary is the star of evangelization, the new Sinai, whe will never lets her son, she is a faithful mother, an exceptional and incomparable mother [...]

Many are those who enrich themselves at the expense of countries, both Haitian and foreign. Unemployment is widespread, very few people work, others earn their living by doing odd jobs and small business [...]

We need to keep our environment clean, everyone must participate in garbage collection and the fight against filth. Everyone should do something for the community, this is the only way we will feel proud. Recycling trash can be a source of income for the country, we must enter in this type of profitable business [...]

Our ancestors sacrificed, to leave us this land, we need to reconstruct Haiti, making it a true country chasing myths and the 'fatras' of the corruption [...] Leaders must change their behavior fully assuming their responsibilities and get noticed positively.

[...] That the 350 years of Petit-Goâve, be for the Petit-Goâviens the opportunity to change their heart, mind and revive the city on the path of development."
