Wednesday, by delegation, the Minister of Planning, Laurent Lamothe, also Prime Minister, held at the Ministry of Planning, an important meeting, chaired by Wilson Laleau, Minister of Economy and Finance with Mr. Christian Paradis, Minister of the Canadian International Development within the framework of its 72-hour visit to Haiti.

The purpose of this meeting for the Canadian diplomat, was to learn about the actions of the Government of Haiti in the areas of economic governance and institutional strengthening.

At this meeting, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Director of the Office of the Minister of Planning and the Director Generals of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, of the General Administration of Customs (GAC ), the coordinator of the OMRH and advisers of the Minister of Planning, reported on the efforts already made by the administration Martelly and the Government Lamothe in favor of a policy of sustainable development, economic growth, of the reform of public finances, of the dynamism and efficiency of public administration at the service of the population.

The Haitian part presented the Strategic Plan for the development of Haiti, three-year growth framework that defines the priority projects for recovery and social and economic development. Government officials have also called for the creation of a periodic table of bilateral dialogue for the definition of government priorities, of the coordination of external assistance, of the simplification of procedures, the establishment of new mechanisms to improve technical assistance to Haiti.

The Canadian Minister Christian Paradis meanwhile, called for more consistency and efficiency in policy development and resource management.

After the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to diversify the areas of cooperation between the two countries.
