Haiti - Economy : Improvement in the registration of Limited Companies
Wednesday, as part of the modernization project of the registration process of limited companies, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) signed Wednesday, August 28, 2013, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Société Générale haïtienne de Banque (Sogebank). The agreement was signed by Wilson Laleau, the acting Minister of Commerce and Industry and Claude Pierre-Louis, CEO of Sogebank.

Through this agreement, Sogebank has agreed to provide its banking and computer engineering to develop an online platform to collect and make payment to service providers, both of public and private sector, previously designated within the framework of the registration process of new limited companies, through the Electronic Single Window (GUE), the MCI online registration tool of companies.

"Today, users of the Single Window Electronic attest to the timeliness of the service, which currently allows the registration of a business in 10 days. But if, if the law on electronic signature is passed by Parliament, the registration of companies will be able to achieve in a more immediate manner, said the acting Minister of Commerce.

The GUE, already operational, will be improved by having a platform bringing together all stakeholders that must intervene, acording to the Haitian law, in the process of registering a limited company. The platform that will establish Sogebank, will facilitate the procedures for investors around the world who wishing to do business in Haiti. The deadline for registration of a new limited company should then be reduced to two days.

The MoU and the MCI initiative to reduce registration time for limited companies in Haiti, fall into the logic of the Government Martelly-Lamothe to open Haiti for business.
